Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome
๐Overview
Gianotti-Crosti syndrome, also known as papular acrodermatitis of childhood, is a clinical response often triggered by viral infections such as Epstein-Barr or hepatitis B. This condition typically manifests in young children and is characterized by the sudden appearance of firm, skin-colored or red bumps.
The rash is usually distributed symmetrically across specific areas of the body, including the face, buttocks, and extremities. While the presentation can appear concerning, it is generally considered a benign, self-resolving reaction to an underlying systemic infection.
