Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) is a legacy term historically used to describe arthritis occurring in children. The modern preferred term is Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), which encompasses a group of chronic inflammatory joint diseases of unknown cause beginning before age 16. JIA is characterized by persistent arthritis lasting at least six weeks and includes several subtypes based on clinical features.
