Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura
TTP
๐Overview
Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) is a rare, serious blood disorder characterized by the formation of small blood clots (thrombi) throughout the bodyโs small blood vessels. This leads to low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia), destruction of red blood cells, and organ damage. TTP is primarily caused by a severe deficiency of the ADAMTS13 enzyme, which normally regulates clot formation. The condition requires urgent medical attention and is classified under thrombotic microangiopathies.
