Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome
๐Overview
Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome is a cardiac conduction disorder defined by the presence of an abnormal accessory pathway between the atria and ventricles. This extra electrical circuit allows impulses to bypass the heart's normal regulatory pathways, which can lead to episodes of tachycardia.
This condition is present at birth and represents a well-established clinical entity in cardiology. The bypass of the normal electrical route may result in the heart chambers contracting prematurely or out of sequence as signals travel through the additional pathway.
