The wait is usually long but it’s because he does not rush you. He thinks outside the box and is straight to the point. He listens to what you have to say and puts it all together and comes up with a plan. He appreciates that some healthy issues are more complex but doesn’t just dump you as it’s out of his expertise he still listens and tries to help. Will be a loss to our community when he retires

I just had to comment on my experience with Dr. Raman. I was so afraid to see him after reading the comments on here. My experience was no where near what others have said. Dr. Raman greeted me with a big smile and shook my hand. He is super gentle and explains everything in detail. I had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. I was so worried I would be to alert as I have a fear about gagging because my gag reflex is so sensitive. All I remember is taking a deep breath and then I woke up and he was doing the colonoscopy/ It was a little painful but not anything that I couldn’t withstand. He had told me it would be because of scar tissue from my hysterectomy. Dr. Raman also came back to my bedside once I was fully alert and explained his findings and I know people have said they don’t like that he wants a family member present, personally I agree with him because you are not 100% and two sets of ears listening is a great idea! This was a walk in the park that I would go through having Dr. Raman do anytime! The only negative in the whole experience is the prep to clean the bowels lol

Had a terrible experience with dr. ramen in the hospital . I go for a colonoscopy every two years ordered as per my doctor. I usually go with Dr. Ohara . In the consultation of what little he did explain he was looking and speaking to my husband the whole time. He told me( didn’t ask if i did ) Not to chew gum, Eat red meat, Drink alcohol or pop and to walk more Odd.. because i eat a gluten free healthy diet im 130 pounds i don’t drink ,chew gum , no sweets or pop and i walk for my job 9 hours a day i’m constantly running around a huge store. He told me i was on the verge of IBS and assumed i had problems going to the washroom. But last few colonoscopy’s with the other doctor went great The doctor said it was the best hes seen. Dr Ramens bedside manners were awful I wolk up during the procedure and was in severe pain he told me i was moving too much and to stay still while he finished . It was odd because when i wolk up he was in front of me and there was a nurse behind me . HE FAILED TO INFORM ME HE REFUSED TO PUT ME OUT ! there was no anesthesiologist because he quote ” doesn’t work like that” and ” doesn’t do it that way” . I ended up in tears afterwards my husband was shocked, thank goodness for the nurse at the hospital helping me. So if you do go with him make sure you ask if your going to be put out because he will not inform you . Dr Ramen’s own personal views will often trump your health and safety. I do not believe he checks your chart or past medical history based on the statement’s he was making to me. please be carefull when choosing this doctor.

I think that Dr Raman’s views are largely outdated. He has unrealistic views of how we should live our lives (today was told that others’ with my disease, way worse than I have it, have stopped all meds simply by meditating and and helping in the community with no expectations of grandeur or monetary return etc and they are happier and healthier for it). He also told me that my disease would be better if I spent all my time in the shower each day signing at the top of my lungs. He can be unreasonable, chauvinistic and downright mean. I appreciate his straightforwardness, however, often will not listen to responses. He scolds a lot with unreasonable issues. If I could see someone else, I would. He is the only GI I’ve had that has no bedside manor. Oh, and he often gets upset when my husband doesn’t come to my appointments with me (simply not possible for the most part). So. Very. Chauvinistic. (On the one occasion when my husband could come with me, he spend the appointment talking to him as though I wasn’t in the room.)

Really needs a new receptionist or the old one back. The new one NEVER answers the phone, always has the answering machine on. I leave messages never get a response. At least call back.

Excellent doctor. Clear and to the point. Has an interest in lifestyle as a part of good health, but is very knowledgeable about his information. Very comfortable going to him. He is often late, he knows this, but he takes the time it needs to help you. If that is why he is late, then I can wait.
