What a good doctor. Dr Menon also has a good bedside manner. He takes time to explain the nature of the injury and surgery. Thankfully, I am on. The way to full use of my wrist.

I was referred to him for a broken collarbone. He was condescending, and made fun of me with his resident. He even corrected a minor grammar mistake in my spoken words, as if I’m ESL. He simply asked me if I want to do surgery (plating) or not on the first visit. It made my dad panic, as the Dr. didn’t bother to explain the treatment options, or show us the X-rays for how severe my fracture is. He never bothered to show me the X-rays on my follow up visits either, unless requested. Gladly the fracture turned out to be very minor, and has healed well without additional treatment. However, the level of care I got from him was less than substantial, and the letters he sent to my family doctor had more information than I ever heard from him. Not to mention he’s the most condescending doctor I’ve ever seen, almost a bully.

I was treated with respect and kindness by staff and Dr. Menon. There is good atmosphere at his office in the Kay clinic, indicative of happy staff.

I had multiple breaks in my fibula, as well as a dislocated ankle which caused severe ligament damage and even caused a tendon to tear off of my Tibia. I had dealt with broken bones in the past, but never to this extent and I never needed surgery. Dr. Menon was great at making me comfortable during surgery prep, and took the time to answer my questions. He had a great bedside manner before and after the surgery, as I needed to stay in the hospital for a few days, and he checked in on me multiple times.

I have since been back for 3 follow ups with him. Each time he is in a great mood, takes the time to ask me questions and answers my questions. The only negative thing I can say, and I don’t think this is completely in his control, is that there is quite a wait time to see him at the Kaye Clinic. If your appointment is at 8AM, you could be out of there by 10, or you may not be out of there until 12, as it is really busy.

Other than the wait times, I have 0 complaints. He is easily the best doctor I have ever dealt with.

I found him to be very rushed and took very little time to explain anything. Terrible bedside manner. Did not ask if i had any questions. I had to ask for rationale regarding medical decisions. Could not remember the x ray he had just looked at. Frustrating experience. Lacks skills to personalize care for patients instead was only able to provide rehearsed answers. Needs to learn that educating the patient is the best way to get compliance. Inexperienced and it shows.

I have to differ on the first review given regarding this doctor. Although he is occasionally rushed--as are all doctors these days in Alberta--he is nonetheless an excellent surgeon. I had surgery on my tibia and fibula by him, a procedure which took 5 hours and included piecing together the bones and attaching them to plates so that they would heal straight. He did an excellent job, not only by my own account, but by comments made by other doctors, including other orthopedic surgeons and my family doctor, who saw the x-rays. He was always punctual for my follow-up appointments, and was willing to answer questions and concerns as they arose. Also, unlike some specialists, he does not have a "God complex." When it was discovered by my physiotherapist that I also had a torn ACL, Dr. Menon was quick to refer me to another doctor rather than to attempt a surgery for which he felt he was not qualified.

Dr Menon repaired my tibia after 2 other surgeries/other surgeons. Needed bone graft harvested from my hip, w/ plate and screws to repair a nasty vertical tibia break. His talent got my ankle returned to 100% flexibility when we weren't sure I'd even walk normal again. Dr Menon was great, very respectable & personable, took time to explain everything, very down to earth. I found him reassuring especially since we needed to discuss chances of "bad odds" with the ankle. Impressive patience given he covered a huge surgical load & teaching residents in a very busy VGH. I have met lots of good & bad with my surgeries - Dr Menon & his team were great. Ortho surgeries scare me, & this was my 4th experience. It's like you're rolling into a Home Depot tool dept - it isn't easy to know you are getting this done to you. It's been 3yrs since that last surgery & absolutely NO complications. I am back hiking, skiiing, snowshoeing and even lite running again. THANK-YOU isn't even enough, Dr Menon!

He was very kind, helpful, and reassuring. This was my first time being in the hospital, so naturally I was a little afraid. But he made me feel very comfortable. Really nice guy!

my husband had a very serious injury and was not expected to live; Dr. Menon repaired his pelvis (front and left hip) and did an awesome job. Dr. Menon explained what he did, showed us the x-rays and was willing to take time to answer questions and provide as much information regarding possible outcomes as possible. The circumstances of this particular injury were not common and 2 further surgeries were required following the first. We feel were were so lucky to have Dr. Menon looking after my husband and that he made the difference between some of those not-so-great possible outcomes and how he is now: walking and able to engage in all the activities he did prior to the accident. thanks doc!
