๐Overview
This condition occurs when fat builds up in the liver, potentially interfering with normal organ function. Clinicians typically categorize the disease into two primary types: nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which is associated with metabolic factors, and alcoholic fatty liver disease, which results from heavy alcohol use.
Both forms of the condition may range from simple fat accumulation, known as steatosis, to more complex states involving cellular inflammation. While the presence of some fat in the liver is normal, excessive amounts can lead to clinical concern regarding long-term hepatic health.
