๐Overview
Immune hemolytic anemia is a group of disorders characterized by premature destruction of red blood cells due to immune system activity against them. It is also known as autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) when caused by autoantibodies. The modern preferred term is autoimmune hemolytic anemia, which includes warm antibody AIHA, cold agglutinin disease, and paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. These conditions involve antibodies targeting red blood cells leading to their breakdown and anemia.
