Polycythemia Vera (PV) is a chronic myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by the overproduction of red blood cells, often accompanied by increased white blood cells and platelets. It is a type of blood cancer that leads to increased blood viscosity and risk of thrombosis. PV is classified under myeloproliferative disorders and is associated with mutations in the JAK2 gene in most cases.
