I've seen Dr Russell for several years. The last time I saw him he didn't even touch my joints to see how I was progressing. Prescription and I was out the door. Was forgotten in the waiting room til everyone had gone. First appointment he verbally told me the prescription and then wrote my GP a different dosage which was rather high so confusion. Typically I'm met with disinterest in appointments but this last was too much. I'm going to have to find someone else. Why do so many specialists act like they are God?

Dr Russell was haughty, impatient, and dismissive when I described pain I was experiencing. He wrote a sarcastic and judgemental note to my GP. I complained to the Alberta Association of Physicians and recommended that he be required to take courses in -doctor-patient communication skills , but was rejected. However ,at my request , my letter was reportedly placed in his permanent file. I saw Dr. Russell in about 1999, but my GP accused me in 2007 of having it “in for him” in 1999! What would cause my GP to accuse me of wanting to harm Dr Russell professionally 8 yrs later? My guess is that Dr Russell has tried to poison my relationship with my family doctor of over 30 years! Dr Russell was completely unsympathetic and rude in his manner towards me in the presence of my wife(an RN) and a medical student who examined me physically for myaloma. I still suffer from pain in my neck, back, right elbow and lower arms and hands. But I have now quit telling GP out of frustration.

I have been seeing Dr Russell for approx. forty years and think in my judgement he is one of the top Rheumatologists in Canada. He’s not overly sympathetic but straight to the point, diagnosing and treating you if he can.If there’s nothing he can help you with he will tell you.

I saw this so called Doctor back in 1998 when I was 15 years old. He was quite a piece of work then…but as I hear now he has gotten even worse. He spent a total of 6 minutes with me…asked my mom to leave the room…told me there was nothing wrong with me and that I needed to seek professional help. He then left the exam room walked up to my mother in the FULL waiting room and told my mother that I had a mental problem that needs to be dealt with or it would eventually lead to suicide. He told this to my mother infront of 30 people in a WAITING ROOM! This man has never heard of patient confidentiality apparently. One week later I was diagnosed by a pediatrician. As far as I am concerned this man should be stripped of his license and never be allowed to practice medicine again. What a pathetic Doctor and a terrible excuse for a human being.

Have seen Dr Russell a few times due to insistence of my GP, have SLE, and on prednisone, he told me to cut down or quit using my medication. If I didn’t use it I would be incapicated. Told me nothing wrong with me. He is an out and out quack. Am seeing a REAL rhuematologist and doing good. He is shown on TV giving advice.Don’t listen. He trys to talk to you like you are an idiot.

Referred to Dr. Russell as inflamed/weeping cartilage on my ear was judged to possibly be an immune disorder. After a brief look at my ear, he said the cartilage was not involved. The ENT he referred me to said it was, and the biopsy confirmed this. Russell ordered blood test for WCB count and said negative results proved there was no immune disorder (an immune disorder is not an infection, folks). He told me that my fatigue after a full & sound night’s sleep was because I didn’t meditate before going to bed at night … actually I do meditate before bed, but I was so disgusted by then that I didn’t trust myself to open my mouth.
