I have never met his staff so I cannot comment on them. Dr. Nohr bases his decisions on care by your lifestyle. If you have tattoos, take drugs, were in jail, and you see Dr. Nohr, you are dead. Arrogant, I have heard him speak about his colleagues with disdain and I should not have been made an audience about his low sarcastic demeaning of a colleague. He’s terrible.

I had my RNY in 2004 and Dr. Nohr is excellent. He is knowledgable and Medicine Hat is lucky to have him.

Mr. Nohr is a terrible doctor if you can call him that. In 2003 he was treating me for abdominal pain. He thought he knew what it was and prescribed me medication. After losing 80 lbs in three months i decided to go to Calgary. Once in Calgary I was admitted to the hospital and told that i had Crohns disease and would have to have 11 inches of my intestine removed, My blood was toxic and i could die. Carl Nohr has no interest in helping people he is only interested in making money off of gastric bypass operations. Please share this with everyone you know and avoid seeing this man at all costs.

Ask the nurses and other doctors about Dr. Nohr. They all hate him. He treats them with no respect and more than once nurses have threatened to leave because of him. He may be an OK doctor but he sure does not know how to treat his pears.

I had surgery with Dr. Nohr in 2003. I was operated on a Thursday, and discharged on a Tuesday. Dr. Nohr came in and checked on me EVERY single day – even over the weekend, to make sure I was okay. Had it not been for him, I would have been dead by now and my children would have been wards of the Province, as I am a single parent. He has improved my health considerably – lost 160 pounds, and although he is soft spoken, he is VERY honest, and will not sugar coat things. And I also wanted to comment that HE DOES NOT MAKE MONEY OFF THE RNY!!! In fact, the Government pays him a disgustingly small amount for the procedure that people pay THOUSANDS to have done privately. Also, he provides a panni or tummy tuck to those patients who need it after drastic weight loss. I have had many doctors examine me since that surgery 2.5years ago, and the are AMAZED at how good of a job he did. He gets paid a VERY small amount for the work on that as well, while Plastic Surgeons charge THOUSANDS!

Dr. Nohr did a RNY for me on November 16, 2006 (my 38th birthday). He was blunt, professional and caring. He did not mince words but explained the procedure in detail. He called me at home prior to surgery. He checked on me everyday following surgery. At first I thought his beside manner was too abrupt. He was not one to coddle…at the time, I was probably a bit more needy than normal. I think he saved my life and gave me more years with my children. All in all, that alone makes him a wonderful doctor. Seek his help without worries. You will be in good hands.
