I experienced a traumatic leg injury at work with a composite fracture of my left leg both tib and fib bones snapped. After the emergency room I was ready for surgery dr small introduced himself to me and reassured me that everything was going to be fine as I was stressed. His calm nature made the whole experience easy for me. I would recommend him with the highest of Acknowledgement for his skills and he’s a great bloke. I am now just over a year after initial surgery he has removed all the metal work from my leg and I feel as back to normal at work and playing sport.

I was told I needed bi-lateral knee replacements about 5 years before I finally had them done by Dr Tim. The first surgeon who I saw is very well qualified and respected. He spent few minutes with me and I felt shuffled out the door, booked in for both knees. It felt like he had just ticked the box for the Alcantra leather in his new Range Rover. The second surgeon I was referred to retired before I could book him in. He recommended me to Dr Tim.
When I left Tim’s rooms after the first consultation I knew I was in good hands.
Dr Small just gets it right in every way. From the friendly but very efficient Cynthia at the front desk, to Tim’s ability to explain the process and make one feel comfortable.
His technical skill is exemplary. In rehab everyone remarked I had the best scars, which 3 months later are almost invisible. I am pain free, have very good mobility and thrilled with the result. Unfortunately neither of my parents are alive anymore, but if they were and needed the best Orthopedic surgeon anyone could find, Tim is the Man.

I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Tim Small.
After a really nasty accident when I smashed my left knee and broke my ankle, I was very fortunate to meet with Dr Small in St. Vincent’s ED.
I was unaware how much damage I had done to my knee and after a 10 hour operation, Dr. Small likened the bones to a squashed ‘Crunchie’ Bar but he told me right from the beginning he was unsure how much bend I would get back and a total knee replacement down the track would be on the cards.
I had several months of rehab and a very intricate skin graph on the knee, performed by one of Dr Small’s excellent colleagues – more rehab and healing time and recently my knee transplant. Through all this Dr Small has been so attentive, reassuring and just wonderful to deal with. His hospital visits were daily even at weekends and now I’m back at rehab and have already reached the degrees of bending he honestly thought would be my limit. His excitement and encouragement at me achieving this bend in so short a time after the transplant was so genuine that I am still at rehab and working on even more bending. He’s a wonderful caring doctor and consider myself very fortunate he was on call the night of my accident. Sandra Smith

I crushed my foot when my motorbike fell on it. I broke almost every bone in my foot and dislocated the larger ones. Tim operated on it a day after the accident and then again 4 months after to remove the metal.
The surgery went very well and I am anticipating a full recovery with no limp which I find amazing.
My accident happened through COVID code red, meaning no visitors allowed. I was in hospital for 5 nights and Tim’s kindness and reassuring warmth was like a balm.
I highly recommend him for his fabulous skills as well as his kindness and genuine care.

I have had my right knee ACL reconstruction done 15 years ago and unfortunately have it torn again in a basketball game. I was so hesitated to have it reconstructed again or not. From the first day I have seen Dr. Small I knew that I would be in good hand. This revision involves 2 stages surgery which were bone graft to existing tunnels, and another reconstruction. Each and every surgery went so successfully and now it has been 11 months post my reconstruction surgery. What I am having now is a “Rock Solid” strong knee. Thank you Dr. Small to bring my sports life back. Also, thanks to Cynthia at the front desk, she has been very helpful.

Dr Tim Small - you gave me back my life!!! After months of excruciating hip pain and months of struggling in a horizontal position to get around - you did my total right hip surgery and I feel fantastic. Driving my car after 6 weeks was amazing. I am so grateful to you for everything you’ve done to give me back my life and independence. Thank you so much Dr Tim Small. Pamela Slabber

Very caring, helpful, always takes time to explain . Tim followed up after surgery and was always patient and approachable. My knee surgery went well and he went to a lot of trouble to organise hip surgery for my husband during COVID - husbands operation also went well . Thankyou Tim and Cynthia who always made sure my messages were answered.

I can’t recommend Tim and his team enough. I had a knee arthroscopy to repair a meniscal tear. A week later I am pain free and moving freely. Tim takes the time to ensure you understand the procedure and makes you feel really comfortable with what the procedure entails and what to expect. The team made the entire process quick and easy and never left me with unanswered questions. I would recommend Tim over and over.

Dr Small replaced my left hip in 2019. I had a very unfortunate accident on the day I was discharged from rehab by an occupational therapist and a very unpleasant social worker before dr small had had an opportunity to review me. They refused to wait and after 5pm on the Friday they organised my discharge from rehab. There was no way for me to contact him as it was after hours on Friday. I was dumped into my front door early on Monday morning. Cleaners had been arranged by the social worker at rehab who could not speak English or communicate with me. My bathroom. Floor was left wet and the cleaners left me alone unable to care for myself. As I entered the bathroom on crutches, the crutch slipped on the wet bathroom floor. My left femur was then very badly fractured and it was necessary for me to be rescued and taken back to hospital for surgery to reduce the fracture and revise my hip replacement. I was and will always be thankful to dr small for. His kind and compassionate caring attitude to me. Following the accident it took me nine months of intense Physio and personal training to learn to walk again. Shortly after I had begun to advance and improve steadily with my mobility and strength I was diagnosed with breast and lung cancer. During stagin a very large brain aneurysm was discovered. I am currently recovering from my brain surgery in a beautiful rehab hospital. I have never experienced such nastiness, judgment an unpleasantness from any person such as the social worker and the other place. I refused to return there on this occasion. The social worker accused me of malingering and not recovering quickly from my pain and injuries because she claimed I had psychological problems preventing my from improving. She insisted that I should be doing voluntary work at the Wayside Chapel. However I was helpless and in a greatdeal of pain but she placed me in the hands of an ACAT team who showed me nothing but contempt and neglect for eight weeks.
