From the moment I met Dr Tim Small I knew I was in good hands. Tim was empathetic, explained my condition and my options in a way I could understand (using models and my MRI) and was really patient. He didn’t push surgery which I appreciated and he genuinely cared about me getting back on my feet in time to meet some personal goals. I had a tear in my meniscus and started by asking him about all the non-surgical options! I was pretty nervous, I hadn’t had surgery before. I left my first appointment wanting to think about my options. I had a heap of questions and emailed them to him a couple of days later. Tim rang me and took the time I needed to understand the answers to all my questions, and this convinced me that surgery was the right option for me. I saw him again on the day of surgery and a week later for follow up. Tim told me I would walk out of the hospital on the day of surgery and I absolutely could. My recovery has been quick and exactly as Tim said. I am so happy I nipped this in the bud early. If I ever have to see an orthopaedic surgeon again, I’ll be coming back to Tim. And if any of my family or friends need an orthopaedic surgeon, I know who I will be recommending. Also, special mention to Tim’s practice manager Cynthia. She is so helpful, a quick responder and explains the whole hospital process for you and is there for you when you need her. They’re a very capable and friendly team! Thanks Tim and Cynthia.

I spent 12 months procrastinating over a full hip replacement procedure. I finally got to the starting line only because of the reassurance, patience and professionalism of Dr Timothy Small and his able office manager Cynthia. Once there is was just a matter of allowing the highly skilled professionals to do there thing. the surgeon, the anesthetist, physio and the hospital staff were amazing, they did everything one could wish for to make the procedure as best as it could be. My sincere thanks and appreciation to Timothy Small and his team you could not wish for better.

I’m a 72 year old pensioner and was admitted to St Vincent’s Hospital 6 weeks ago a bike accident in which I managed to broke my ankle in so many different ways.
Dr Tim small did the operation. You get the feeling with Tim small that he’s a real people person and a perfectionist to boot. He did an amazing job and I’m so grateful to have him do the operation 100 stars out of 5 regards Alan Murray thank you

My mother recently had bilateral hip replacements done by Dr Small after suffering with agonising pain and inability to walk for over 10 years (surgeries Feb and July 21). We are so grateful to Dr Small for expediting her surgery after our first consultation. The surgery has been life changing for my mum. She now has absolutely no pain, has regained her ability to walk, has recovered quickly with no complications and even has lovely neat scars! Would absolutely recommended Dr Small to anyone for his professionalism, care and concern and obvious skill

I underwent TKA back on 22nd June, 2021. My Post-op consultation with my Specialist (Tim)
took place on 2nd August, 2021. Tim was absolutely shocked at the progress I had made. I
was again walking freely, flexibility was great and have only slight discomfort, no pain.
This operation was the best thing I could have done. I have turned a corner and now there
is no looking back.
My decision to go ahead with this surgery was defined by putting up with severe pain due to
osteoarthritis suffered in my right knee for over 5 years so as you can imagine, I still have a lot
of work to do to build up my muscles that have been compromised for so long.
Days 1 – 4 On the Ward was concentrated on pain relief but at the same time, Physiotherapists came by
twice a day to get me up walking, first with a frame (that didn’t last) and then straight
onto one crutch. I really didn’t need it because I felt more stable than I had for such
a long time. We progressed onto squats and learning how to climb stairs. These of course
were challenging at the time but doable.
Days 5 -10 I moved into the In-patient Rehabilitation Ward where flexibility was challenged.
I could now walk without a crutch or a walking stick but ordered to use the stick ‘just in case’.
Hydotherapy was wonderful for building up confidence with my new knee. Lots of fun and laughs
as well. Highly recommended.
Once home, I continued with the exercises provided to me by the Physiotherapy Team. I decided
not to persue further Rehabilitation as an Outpatient mainly due to Covid restrictions. I
instead opted to see an Osteopath and visited them twice a week at first then once a week.
I really do not think that my recovery would be as swift without it. After my first visit
my knee felt free, the swelling was relieved and after the third visit could manage stairs and
walk them normally (holding onto rail). I highly recommend this service to speed up flexion and reduce swelling.
This biggest thankyou however goes to Dr Tim Small who promised me I would get my life back.
He was right. I can finally see the light. Tim is not only an amazing Doctor, he is down to earth
and honest. If you are in the running for a new knee, look him up!!!! He has a reputation for
great results.

Doctor Tim Small is great. I had a tear and fraying is my miniscus in my left knee. I had been putting up with the pain for about three years. It progressively got worst to the stage I needed pain relief to sleep. My GP recommend Tim. Our first consultation was via the phone, due to COVID. He was very prompt and helpful. He arranged his secretary to email a referral for and MRI on my knee that afternoon. Two days later we met on a Wednesday. He examined the MRI and my knee. He explained to me the surgery in plain English, and made me feel very comfortable. Two days later on Friday morning I was in the operating theatre. I walked out of the hospital and was home just after lunch. The hospital gave me pain relief which I did not use. Tim must of been very gentle with my knee during the surgery. I was walking pain free following the surgery on the weekend and back to work on Monday. Amazing. I am now walking normally and sleeping well. Thank you Tim, you are a magician.
