Run fast run far! I saw this doctor for a full 5 minutes and in that time he felt he had enough knowledge to submit a letter (requested from my LTD pending insurer) that I had excellent range of motion. Which in turn denied my clain. I have been a long time sufferer of Ankylosing Spondilitis, I had spent 8 days completely bedriden an able to brush my teeth or get to a bathroom without complete help from my family. I was in the recovery faze of my flair when I saw him. I told him If the apt., were a week before There was no way I would have been able to get to the apt. He asked me to turn my head and bend over, this was his accessment which he felt entitled him to forward a letter to Great West Life. I would fear for my health if I were left with him to help with my disease. I would fear for my health if I had to see him even for a hang nail.

I was bedridden for 5 months & was referred to Dr. Russell via an er visit. This man gave my life back to me. He did a head-to-toe assessment the first visit & very quickly got me onto the appropriate course of treatment. He was very thorough in his investigation of the cause & addressed all my concerns along the way. His bedside manner is professional, not overly friendly, which I value in a doctor. Given the hospital he works in & the number of patients he sees, he is sometimes in a rush, but still covers everything necessary in appointments. Overall, I’ve been very happy with him.

I have been seeing Dr. Russell for 20 years. He has been nothing but amazing. He is always understanding and always keeps in mind what your concerns are…I will always recommend him.

Having had gout problems for years, finally got my family doctor to see a specialist. I was able to see Dr. Russel within a week. He explains the problems, and gives options. I am hoping that with another visit things will be getting better for me.

I found he didn’t explain anything to me except to tell me that I had Sjogren’s. I had to ask the questions, and I really didn’t know what questions to ask at the time, as I was unprepared to hear the results of the tests. When he prescribed the medication to me, he did tell me about the side effects. But that was about it. Told me to come back in a year and see him, unless something changed.

Not a good doctor at all. Misdiagnosed me with ankylosing spondylitis. He was very quick to ask me what kind of insurance I had. He got me on an expensive injection ($1500 per month) as fast as he could. After 2 months I insisted I didn’t feel much better. Even after an MRI that came back clean he wanted me to continue on the injection. I insisted that there was something physical going on because of how the injury happened and the injection not doing anything. He said that if I didn’t want to take the injection there was nothing else he could do for me. I later met a doctor that gave me a properly diagnosis and helped me to get better. Stay awake from this doctor at all costs.

I saw this specialist in Victoria BC as he covered my regular specialist . I was instantly offended by his condescending manner after I expressed that I hurt " everywhere" then when he asked " does your neck hurt "? I said no , and he instantly had me in tears when he said " I thought you said you hurt EVERYWHERE "? He was quick to diagnose me , chat for 1-2 minutes about his diagnose me , write a RX and send me out the door . Bedside manner and compassion is definitely lacking in this man . Glad he practices in Alberta not BC
