Dr. Birkil is a kind hearted man who I have great admiration for. He has always treated me and my family with respect kindness and compassion. People aren’t always pleased with their Family Doctors for various reasons. Many people forget how hard it is for them to do what they do. Richard is one **** of an asset to this community!

My father saw this doctor numerous times, complaining of lack of energy and shortness of breath. Like the pill pusher that he is, he always just wrote him a prescription without even checking his oxygen levels. The very last time my father went to him, he arranged a referral for him in Edmonton. My father died of undiagnosed lung disease one week later. What an absolute horrendous doctor one must be to see a patient several times over the course of a few months and do nothing more than write a prescription. After sharing this story with others, it turns out that this is not an isolated event. He should not be allowed to practice medicine. Please do yourself a favour and visit a different doctor.

This is the only doctor in Lac La Biche that we will specifically ask NOT to see. he is rude and not compassionate in the least. I have seen him twice and both times left feeling angry. We are First Nations. I don’t know if that was a factor because reading some of these other reviews, it seems like a completely different person. we are done with him and let anyone who asks know how little we think of him as a physician.
