Dr Sharaon Laval is a useless doctor ,has a very bas bedside manner ,she wants to influence patients that she is wrong ,she is stubborn ,she makes personal remarks ,she seems like a very bitter person and an incompetent doctor. The worst doctor anyone could go to.

My doctor sent me to Dr. Laval because he thought my strong stomach pains might be a result of an IUD infection. I told her thisproblem and she responded with “Stomach pain? I’m a gynecologist not a stomach doctor.” She began eating her lunch and I asked if she could remove my IUD anyway and began listed my various negative hormone-related side effects that have started since IUD insertion. She dismissed each symptom saying it was not the IUD and told me she would prescribe me MORE hormones to control my period pain and MORE drugs to fix my acne. I really didn’t want this but she would not take no for an answer. I explained that the IUD strings were too short and I was very anxious about not being able to feel them, she responded that this was normal and NOBODY can feel the strings ever, despite the instruction label saying that you should check the strings each month. It wasn’t until I broke down crying that she took me seriously and agreed to remove the IUD. Right before it was removed, she rudely told me that I should start taking prenatal vitamins because i was definitely going to get pregnant using condoms.

Slouched into her chair, typing away at her iPad, all the while not listening to questions you are asking her, while being 2 feet away. This was my experience with “doctor” Laval. I went in due to cyclical vomit that has been happening for years, and seemingly linked to my period. It was then discovered I have dermoids, a type of ovarian cysts, 2 in fact, of relatively large size. One of which, the largest, was recorded at 5.5. She completely shrugged it off, not concerned that this may be the cause of my discomfort. “Don’t worry about it. People are born with them, you only need to worry if it gets bigger than 7cm and you’re only at 5.” Her solutuin to the vomiting? “We’ll try birth control and see if it works” I was lucky to be graced with a family doctor just recently, and discontinued all appointments with Laval. We’ve also found out that the dermoids she was so sure not to worry about have increased in size. The larger being at 7.2cm in less than a year, means I may now need surgery. Had I stayed with Laval, I’d be on birth control, still vomiting for 24h once a month. Dr Laval is just so quick to dismiss her patients, trying to find the easiest solution, regardless if it may be the wrong one. Don’t waste your time with her, please. This is about YOUR health. Make the right decision for yourself, and see a different doctor.

    Sharon Laval, Ottawa
Background: In February 2011, Laval agreed to restrict her licence and not engage in independent surgical practice, hospital OB/GYN practice or labour and delivery. She is allowed to practise at a teaching hospital under supervision and if not the “most responsible physician.” Laval is prohibited from performing several specific procedures.
Response: Laval did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

This “doctor”can go f*** herself. I am currently over 29 weeks pregnant. My last appointment was November 16th which she informed me would be my last appointment because she would be referring to the hospital I had chosen to give birth at. I was informed I would set an appointment with her for the following month just in case i did not hear from the hospital. Time passesd, i did not hear from the hospital and missed the appointment. I decided not to go thinking I must hear from them soon and was not happy with previous visits. She rushed me (5-10min max per appointment) she did not inform me of my blood pressure, weight gain or go into detail about my pregnancy. She sent me to my 20 week ultrasound thinking it was to find out the gender when it was actually to check my daughter’s development ( this is my first child so I had no idea what to expect). Needless to say I showed up to that ultrasound looking like a fool. I called today to the clinic to see if the referral was sent and I was told it wasn’t which means I have not seen a doctor in over a month because of her incompetency and lack of professionalism. I am more than enraged!!!! All of my girlfriends have had a wonderful pregnancy experience because of their OBGYN and now mine has officially been ruined because one woman doesn’t know how to do her job.!!! My reccomendation would be to NEVER accept her as an OBGYN! my first child and she has ruined a beautiful experience. I am 22 (young but not immature) so if this is why she acted the way she did then she needs to choose a new profession.

Dr. Laval saw me through my hysterectomy and the stress of having cervical cancer. She is friendly and available and a genuine person. No "aires" about her. She provided me with copies of all tes results, and answered all questions. Her bedside manner is FABULOUS!! She is warm and caring and always has time to spend with her patients. I have never felt rushed or uncomfortable in her office.

I am the husband of someone who visited Dr. Laval. I read the comment about spotting and my wife is going through the same issue. First words from the Dr's mouth were "Well you know that 1/4 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage." There's nothing wrong with being direct, but empathy is the way to go. None of the information she provided was helpful and everything she related to went back to her saying the chances are that we're having a miscarriage. She wasn't able to provide any information that we could digest and understand. In fact, it was as if I wasn't involved in the appointment. She didn't even acknowledge that I was there. This is our first pregnancy and I have no clue what to expect. Now I have even less of a clue! I could accept if we're having a miscarriage. But now I don't know whether or not it is a miscarriage or if we can keep on trying. I'm very disappointed in the visit and I'm looking forward to getting back to our family Dr to see what's really going on.

I was seen by Dr. Laval for my first pregnancy, having just moved from Southern Ontario at 32 weeks with the knowledge from my previous OBGYN that my baby was breach, I asked Dr. Laval for an ultrasound to make sure of the babies position. Said she was sure the baby was indeed head down. Started having hypertension at 35 weeks, she was not sure if I should go to the hospital. She changed her mind twice during my check up,never went. Became extremely hypertensive at 37 weeks and rushed me to the hospital to be induced. Sure enough I delievered my baby breach that night. She had injuries to her genitalia (cut from her anus to her vagina). I even took pictures just in case... I told Dr. Laval I was breach and she didn't listen to me. Six weeks later I had a post pregnancy examination and she did not complete any type of examination,I sat on the chair and she asked me some questions regarding post-partum depression and then sent me on my way!I would never recommend this Dr. to anyone.

I was refered to Dr Laval by the ER dr. I had gone into ER a few times for major pain in my ovaries. When i went to see her all she did was ask a bunch of questions then told me she didnt know what was wrong and to take some birth control pills. I told her i was concerned about taking the pills b/c they change your hormone production. She snapped at me and said" well you're other option is surgury do you want that?" obviously i don't so i took the pills and left and threw them out at home b/c i wasnt explained how they would help especially not knowing what was wrong to begin with.
