I saw doctor Laval first for a period that would not end! and she didn't help me so I ended up going on a birth control to regulate it (even though I wanted more children) which as a result I lost my gal bladder due to the yasmin birth control. She was always late after I drove 2 hours to see her only twice. I finally gave up hope and let it go. Till 2011-2012 my partner and I suffered two miscarriages and it crushed me so I went back to see her cause in northern ontario wait times are retarded. she made me wait a extra hr, ate her lunch infront of me and basically sent me to get blood work, go to get it and the lab had no clue as to her instructions & 4 tests had to be paid for! I ended up not getting the blood work then i found out she was retiring in a day! she then proceeded to not really care about what was happening or the tests said i might have a blood clotting diease and i could take needles&pills or give up. very rude and heartless i'm glad she retired horrible stupid doctor

I’ll break down the good and bad of Dr. Laval:
She is great for you if you:
a) want hormonal contraception
b) Are pregnant and intend to keep the baby
c) Need help having a baby
She is a monster to you if you:
a) don’t want hormonal contraception or cooper IUD
b) are pregnant and don’t want to keep the baby
c) Have “too many” sexual partners
d) Anything that is not in the 3 reasons why she is great for you.
I went in to see this doctor – I won’t complain about how long she kept me waiting because that’s typically standard practice for physicians it seems. I wanted my hormonal IUD removed because of the complications I was having. She recommended a medication with progesterone in it to help. I told her I had been on the pill and i felt the same way as the IUD so I wanted it removed and I didn’t want anymore hormones. She spent most of the appointment trying to convince me to keep this IUD and take more hormones. I have been having terrible side effects for 10 months. At first the doctors said it will take 6 months to correct itself now they are saying give it a year. I have realized, it won’t stop – your body knows. I refused repeatedly and she said make sure you start taking prenatals so the baby is healthy when you get pregnant. Then asked me if I wanted to be 22 and pregnant. My age wasn’t important. I might be 22 but I am planning to get married, two university degrees at the age of 19 and have been working full time since. The stereotypical 22 year old isn’t me. She just talks without thinking and is very judgemental – didn’t care much about who I was as a person and makes a lot of assumption. Any way, she’s a great doctor for some, for others like myself, she is your worst nightmare. Always remember when someone is trying to get your to use or do something, they are usually the ones’ selling. It begs the question is the money from these contraceptives going in her pocket some way?

Dr. Laval was the gynaecologist that was assigned to me after I requested to take my first set of BC pills. After a few months, I wanted to switch to another brand as I felt that the first brand that I was prescribed wasnt working for me. She made me feel genuinely stupid and uncomfortable about my inquiries regarding the new brand and with BC in general and therefore pressured me to take the new brand that she wanted for me. After my appointment with her, I went to a pharmacist because I felt that I was missing some information from my appointment with Dr.Laval and I also had my suspicions about the BC that she wanted to switch me to.The pharmacist told me that the brand she’s trying to switch me to is a big jump, and puts me at a higher risk of my concerns with the first brand that I was prescribed. In short, find a different gynaecologist that will respect your opinions, even though your opinions may or may not be 100% accurate based on their knowledge. If I started the new prescription that she wanted for me to take, my experience with BC would almost certainly be exponentially worse. I felt like an idiot leaving the appointment with her.

Dr. Sharon was very nice to me.
I believe that the assesment and the physical exporacion could be better, so far the only thing I can add. I think patients have all the right to share their experiences with their health-care providers. But is important to keep this forum for constructive comments, and not take advantage of anonymity to make unnecessarily cruel opinions.
We can work together on building a better society and optimize services.

**0 STARS** She shouldn’t be aloud to practice. She is not a good doctor. I do not recommend her to anyone. I’ve suffered from daily migraines for the last 12 years due to my hormonal birthcontrol so I went to see Dr.Lavall for a non hormonal copper IUD. She refused and kept insisting that the low hormonal IUD will not cause migraines.
Unfortunetly, I listened to her. I assumed she knew what she was talking about but I was so wrong. She prescribed me tablets to insert the night before the procedure and it was brought to my intention that she gave me any too many, which explained the unberable pains I got that night.
During the procedure, she was so unorganized. She did have the necessary tools in the room to perform the procedure. But that wasnt the worst part, she had my cervix clamp for several minutes and she left the room to go grab her tools…leaving the door open exposing me to anyone that may walk by.😡
Within hours, I suffered the worst pains ever (severe abdomen pains and you guessed it…migraines) but I waited a week before trying to contact her because she said that pain would be normal. She did not return my calls and her staff kept telling me that I was unable to see or speak to her for another month. I went to the emergency room and several clinics to have it removed and NO doctor was able to help me because Dr.Lavall cut the strings so short that you were unable to see them without causing me more pain.
I eventually found another gynocologist and had him remove it and put in the copper IUD that I asked for initially. This was also painful (which could of been avoided). The gynocologist was very confused as to why they got cut so short and he was not impressed. Till this day, several months later, Dr.Lavall still hasn’t returned my phone calls.
SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HER PATIENTS AND SHOULD NOT BE PRACTICING! DO NOT GO SEE THIS DOCTOR, SHE WILL MAKE THE EXPERIENCE WAY WORST THAN IT HAS TO BE. Please go see Dr.Beshara, he is fantastic and will take all precautionary measures to assure you as little pain and discomfort as possible and he will make sure your IUD is in place and it is what you need. He leaves no room for complications.

I had several unfortunate experiences with Dr. Laval. She is currently with the Appletree Medical Team here in Ottawa, On. All I can say, as she doesn’t know much about diagnosing at all, and in fact, she must have been an academic achiever, because she lacks basic human skills to interact efficiently and effectively as a doctor with her patients! She told me it’s impossible to get a yeast infection after a hysterectomy! That was incorrect! She refused to address issues I had post bladder lift with a mesh sling. Told me I needed vaginal physiotherapy, when in over 9 years, was just told there are some serious concerns, now being addressed by other uro.gyn doctors! She also mocked me and insulting me by comparing me to another of of her patients being 92 years of age, at the time I was 57, saying she took the therapy and is doing better than you! Not once but 2X she said the same thing! Do these doctors get kick backs on how many patients they send for physio since its not a cost covered by the Province? I have complained to my family Dr. and he didn’t say anything, but the look on his face said it all! I will also take my complaint to the College of Physicians and Surgeons as well. That’s who needs to check out Dr. Laval’s misconduct and poor medical advise, it’s this authority that holds her medical license, let’s see her smart and cheeky attitude when her superiors discuss her professional future as a medical doctor. Let’s see how funny she feels about the pain and extra suffering she has caused some of her patients on so many levels, many that most likely would never talk about their experience and suffer in silence! I post this for all of you too!
