Well I got into my appointment on time so punctuality gets 3 stars. Staff wasn’t great. Didn’t feel like the friendliest or most reassuring. I was referred to Dr. Laval from another doctor in Appletree to further investigate some small post-menopausal issues I was having. Didn’t seem interested in any further description or details of my symptoms that I wanted to make. Lets face it, none of the stuff we go to these doctors for is easy to talk about and when its a doctor you’ve had no chance to build any rapport with over time its even more difficult. She does nothing to make you feel any more comfortable. Condescending would be my description of how it felt talking to her. She is extremely poor at explaining things, if I hadn’t already done a lot of my own homework I’m not sure what I would have felt. During pap test she just announced she was going to do an endometrial biopsy. No explanation of what it was, what it was going to feel like, why she thought it should be done and most disturbing, NO request for permission to perform it (which I understand is standard practice by the College of Medicine). No mention of possible risks to the procedure either. I knew what it was because like I said I had done my homework prior but she had no way of knowing that. I was astounded at the whole thing and was about to say no and walk out. The only thing that kept me there was that – due to my homework – I wanted to know what it would show so I said nothing and just wanted to get on with it. She then prescribed a topical HRT program, without any verification if I even needed it. Her explanation was “if it works then we know what it was”. I understand HRT as a diagnostic tool is not usually the norm, and while topical HRT apparently has shown little to no risk (but not conclusively) I really don’t want to resort to HRT unless/until it is a quality of life thing. There were many very reasonable explanations for what I was experiencing but they weren’t covered at all. In fact, nothing much was covered. After the procedure she waked out, never said ‘here’s some tissues to help clean up’, nothing like that and things were a bit of a mess. I was bleeding and she never mentioned it or how long I could expect it to go on or at what point it should be a concern. She also prescribed Vitamin D in a large dose, which I don’t have a problem with, its a good thing. When I mentioned I do take Vitamin D supplements she said to ‘suit myself, you can get the prescription or take 10 of your supplements every day, your call”. Just before leaving I wanted to ask about a small mole on my face, just an opinion and her response “Look, this is how this works. Anything from the waist down you can ask me about. From the waist up you probably know as much as I do”. I get the point but the phrasing was pretty cold, I felt a fool for even asking. No mention of anything I should look for after the procedure that would be concerning (signs of infection, excessive bleeding, etc.) Nothing. Zip. Nada. So I gave 1 (they don’t let you give zero) for helpfulness and knowledge. She might be knowledgeable, I don’t know. She didn’t explain anything ever so its hard to tell. I will be seeking a second opinion on the HRT and I will not be going back for follow up. Don’t care to see this doctor ever again, it feels like a waste of time and I don’t appreciate physicians who do invasive tests without explanation, elaboration or even verbal permission, let alone signed acknowledgement of the risks etc.
All tests were negative so that was a positive from this experience. I would not recommend this doctor.

I feel sorry for Dr. Sharon Laval. Anyone would, go to her and see why if you don’t believe me. Just make sure you bring your voice recorder because it is unbelievable what comes out of this doctor’s mouth! Dr. Laval is a pathetic, sad, unhappy, overweight, rude, jealous, miserable, low-self esteem B***H! Oh yeah, Dr. Laval also has a HORRIBLE sense of humour that is only funny if you are silly enough to not understand that she is actually insulting you when she makes a “joke”. BEWARE WOMEN: if you have an attractive body, face, job, personality and seem like you have an overall happy life, she strikes even harder! Don’t say I did not warn you. She has some sort of complex within herself that makes her be rude an nasty to other women. She should seek help for whatever issues she has. In my opinion, and given my line of work, I have seen her enough times to assess and I believe SHE has a MENTAL HEALTH condition that prevents her from being effective at her job.
GOOD COMMENTS FROM PATIENTS: these must be friends and family because it is IMPOSSIBLE to write a good review for Dr. Laval. She is THE worst doctor I have ever come across. Please note, I actually think Dr. Laval is quite intelligent. I do not think she does not understand HOW to do her job. SHE DOES NOT WANT TO DO HER JOB. The problem is, I think she may suffer from mental health issues that affect her mood. Therefore, she makes your visit very uncomfortable and she has to knock or insult your questions or comments to make herself feel better (or skinny), whatever you want to call it…
MEDICATIONS PRESCRIBED: ensure you have a great drug plan before visiting this doctor because she LOVES giving prescriptions. The mental health issue does not impact her ability to see dollar signs ($). She will write the prescription even if you don’t want one. She will encourage you to take medication even if you have concerns. She will never own up to the side effects that the medication produces, so don’t waste your time going back to her if you react from what she gives- go to another doctor who treats you with respect and determine if you should cease use of the drug.
APPLETREE MEDICAL: After visiting this doctor FOUR times, I went to the internet to read the reviews and determine if it was just me who felt this way. She has infected so many women with her nasty attitude. Having a doctor like Laval on staff has changed my perception of Appletree Medical as a whole. There is no way this woman hasn’t been reported, just read the comments, its impossible for that many women to be writing poor reviews that are untrue. APPLE TREE MEDICAL – – Dr. Laval needs to leave your clinic and seek help for her own issues before she ruins your reputation.
NOTE TO WOMEN SUFFERING FROM GYNO RELATED AILMENTS: Dearest sisters, as you all know, gyno issues can be painful, uncomfortable and concerning. Don’t make your issues more complicated by seeing this woman who does not care about you (especially if you are under 35, she will have a field day with you). Go to a doctor who cares about you, wants to resolve your issue AND welcomes questions and supports you until you understand how to better care for your body and see you through to recovery from whatever your initial issue is. This doctor is not helpful. She doesn’t give clear instructions, she doesn’t answer questions well and once she realizes that you are SMART, she insults you – typical of people with low self esteem.
NOTE TO DR. LAVAL: Get help. You know you need help. Read the comments; all of these women know you have serious problems. The closet door is open. Now walk out and go see a doctor…but you are probably worried that you will be treated just like how you treated everyone else. Karma is real – and I comfort myself knowing that you will be treated 10x worst than how you treated many of your patients (just keep reading the comments below). And one last thing…..you are completely obese and unhealthy. Why don’t you seek health for your own OBVIOUS health issues?
