My medical problem is ongoing and has been since around 1995. I have had 3 previous procedures on the same cervical region, including a double fusion and two decompression laminectomies. For thr previous procedures, I had a surgeon who was based in Subiaco, and who guaranteed each time that the condition would not reoccur. Hahaha, guess what!! I have been under Mr Narula as a prep patient for about 6-8 months and although his “bedside manner” is a little ubrupt, he has been totally upfront and honest with me. He is the first person to tell you that surgery should be the last resort, and that all alternative avenues should be sort before taking the step of “going under the knife”. I am “going under knife” under Mr Narula in Monday 18th June and although I am apprehensive about the surgery, I have every confidence in Mr Narula as a surgeon and the resultant outcome. Let face the facts, surgery, as good as it expected to be, will always have the possibilities of not providing the ultimate

Unhelpful and dismissive. I was there following a 6 week wait in a lot of pain to spend 5 minutes with no explanation of my symptoms = sent off for MRI ( 4 week wait for that)Although I did not expect him to win a personality test i did expect at least a discussion about my injury, prognosis etc. I was so angry I will report him to AMA – he is making at least million a year of our money ( minimum 10 patients a day X $300) so should have at least 30 minutes to explain things to you. Sorry Dr go back to basics and learn some patient care.

I was admitted to hospital from emergency as I could not move due to intense pain. Mr Narula looked at old CT scan then sent me for an MRI to get a picture of what’s going on in the soft tissues as well as the vertebrae. He checked my MRI and areas of weakness, swelling and pain rating and discussed trying an epidural injection. After the injection he came to check on me and said a second injection may be necessary if there was no change then we would discuss if surgery was needed. The next day he came to review my condition. Pleased enough he sent a physio to take me for a walk. Within a few days I was able to get around with less pain and more confidence. I was home with enough meds for 2 weeks and told to just walk and call him if needed. After being off the pain killers for 4 days and coping with just paracetamol occasionally my back feels fairly good not 100% yet. Mr Narula said I may get another 6 yrs before needing surgery. He was always polite and caring . Thankyou Mr Narula

I found Dr. Narula to be arrogant and unhelpful. There was no eye contact, asked me unnecessary questions gave me unsatisfactory answers, hardly examined me and made me feel I was wasting his time, which only took 10 minutes. Very unsatisfied with the outcome and will seek another opinion.

Dr Narula was running very late but I was not informed or offered an apology when I finally got to see him. My first appointment with him lasted less than five minutes…he did not examine me, told me that there was nothing wrong and told me to swim more and lose weight (I am a healthy bmi and my gp assures me I’m fine). After charging me a couple of hundred bucks for this waste of time appointment, I have seen someone else, required three nerve root sleeve injections on my 2 prolapsed discs and am now about to have surgery as the disc bulges are now so big I have constant excruciating pain down my legs. I would not recommend this arrogant doctor to anyone…he just seems interested in getting patients through his office in minimal time for substantial amounts of money.

Shocking service, poor communication, still was in hospital 1 month after surgery and sustained a post op infected surgical site. Won’t be going back to him. It’s all about the money.

In 2015 Dr Narula performed very successful lower back surgery for me. Currently I am again a patient and am very happy to report I have only ever received friendly, helpful and professional service from the Dr and his staff.

I am surprised to see the negative reviews of Dr Narula. Dr Narula has always been very professional and helpful, and quite literally a 'life saver' when it came to my Father's brain tumour. We have been incredibly thankful for his expertise and ongoing support. Staff are busy, but have always been polite and helpful. Thank you Dr Narula.
