๐Overview
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome (RHS) is a neurological disorder caused by reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (the same virus that causes chickenpox and shingles) affecting the facial nerve near the ear. It is also known as herpes zoster oticus. RHS is characterized by a combination of painful rash around the ear, facial paralysis, and sometimes hearing loss or vertigo. It is distinct from Bell's palsy, although both involve facial nerve paralysis.
